An avid sportsperson who is enthusiastic in water sports since the 1980s, Eng Tat is extremely passionate in the area of dragon boat and is a member of the Singapore National Dragon Boat Team in the 1980s / 1990s. He re-joined the club after his National Team stint as SAFRA Dragons's coach for the Men's team in the 1990s. His coaching was instrumental in helping the club clinch several Mixed category medals (1998 Singapore River Regatta, Mixed Category- 2nd Runner up, 1999 Singapore River Regatta, Mixed Category- 1st Runner up, 2001 Singapore River Regatta, Mixed Category - 1st Runner up).
Eng Tat is currently the Head Coach for the club overseeing both the Mens and Ladies training. He is a patient teacher who emphasizes greatly on the techniques of effective rowing. Eng Tat positively motivates and influences his paddlers to push their limits to the maximum in order attain and improve on their personal best. His coaching and teachings have led the team in attaining several important milestones (2013 SDBA Minor Finals champions - Inter Business clubs and houses open, SAVA Sprints 2013 Premier Open Grand Finals – 1st runner up).
Apart from Rowing, Eng Tat is a marathon runner, an avid biker, a father of two and a trainer in his day job.
